Technology Checkout Policies

Check-out Procedure - At the Library

  • Students must have a current HCC ID to check out equipment.
  • Equipment will be checked out to the student's HCC Library account.
  • Visit the Library service desk to check out equipment.
  • First come, first serve - no holds available.

Check-in Procedure - At the Library

  • Equipment may be checked in/returned to the Library Service Desk during open hours.
  • Borrowers must return the equipment to a HCC Library staff member; they should not be left unattended at the service counter.
  • The borrower should inform the check-in staff of any problems that were found with the equipment so that it may be repaired or reconfigured for the next borrower.

Loan Period, Lost and Damaged Equipment, Fines

  • Each piece of equipment can be checked out as noted above.
  • This loan may be renewed once if no one has placed a hold on the equipment.
  • Late fees of $10 per day are charged for overdue equipment.
  • Students who fail to return equipment will have a hold placed on their student records, which will restrict the student from registering for classes or obtaining transcripts.
  • Students will be charged a replacement fee + processing fee for lost or damaged equipment.
