Information Literacy Outcomes

This MLTS 201 course guide was created to help students meet the information literacy needs associated with the course objectives. Use of the course guide will help students to:

  • become familiar with internet sites in the field of medical laboratories;
  • evaluate internet resources;
  • search using keywords;
  • explain the differences between library subscription databases and the internet;
  • to find and access database articles; and,
  • understand the elements of APA citations

This guide will enable students to demonstrate the following ACRL Information Literacy Standards outcomes:

I.1c Explores general information sources to increase familiarity with the topic

I.1e Identifies key concepts and terms that describe the information need

I.2c Identifies the value and differences of potential resources in a variety of formats (e.g., multimedia, database, website, data set, audio/visual, book
