Finding OER for Health Sciences

The Library's databases include paid subscribed content and open access journal repositories that cover a wide range of academic disciplines. Most content in a library's database may be linked to using the permanent or persistent link features within the database's platform.

Linking to contents from the Library's databases:

• Access to any content in a library database requires an HCC log in.
• Only current student, staff or faculty have access to library databases.
• Use the persistent or permanent link of an article to link directly to it - this is not the same thing as the link in the browser's address bar.
• Ask a librarian for assistance or use the Linking to Library Resources guide.

The Library's ebooks include paid subscribed content and open access ebook repositories that cover a wide range of academic disciplines. Most library ebooks may be linked to using the permanent or persistent link features within the ebook's platform and/or a link to the item in the library's online catalog.

The Library subscribes to ebooks from a number of different ebook vendors, each with their own licensing restrictions and service models:

• Single user ebooks only allow one user to access an ebook at a the same time.
• Multi-user ebooks allow multiple simultaneous users - sometimes this is unlimited users and sometimes a limited number of concurrent users.
• Some ebooks allow PDF downloads & some do not.
